CONGRATS TO ANNE JENSEN - VOX CULTURE'S FIRST FEATURED ARTIST OF THE MONTH!
Vox is rolling out with a section to feature creatives we have partnered with - this is a great way to get to know artists around town and help support their events! Check out Anne's bio, interview and gallery under the Artist of the Month tab!
MOSAIC MADNESS...MADNESS!
Lessons learned 7/30: 1) Tap once with hammer to break plate, tap twice to shatter. 2) Using cement to grout is a very patient process. 3) Thick-rimmed glasses with no lenses are COOL.
Appreciate everyone who made it out to our first Vox Imprint. The symbolism behind the theme of mosaics is represented by the concept of brokenness - we are reminded by the brokenness around us and perhaps even within us; however, Vox Culture provides a place and community where we can build something beautiful out of brokenness together!
Special thanks to Chris Cortez and TK Ahn for showcasing their artwork at the event. Check out our mosaic creations!
STRONG FINISH FOR THE BRIDGELAND TRI
OnUrMark, get set, GO! Woke up at 4:30AM to support the Bridgeland Tri yesterday 8/7 - this race benefited Living Water, which is an organization that Vox cares deeply about. Congrats to our athletes and thank you to our volunteers for a fun and sweaty morning!

UPCOMING EVENTS
Previewing to September, Houston will be launching its Human Trafficking Awareness Month. In support of HTAM, Vox will be hosting a film night on Saturday, 9/24 from 7-9PM. We will be featuring Erica Fletcher's film, "Pack and Deliver".
Our goal for the talk-back is to spur conversation around the following question: How do we tell rich and moving stories through our art (visual, literary, performance, etc) without further objectifying the people we ultimately intend to advocate?
Check out Erica's blog for some practical steps: "Selling the Issue and Not the Person". More details on the event to follow.
As always, please continue to visit our website and Facebook page to stay updated on our events and initiatives.
Cheerios!
